Every LinenOwl duvet cover, sheet, pillowcase and napkin is cut and sewn in one workshop near Riga, Latvia. The workshop has been making linen bedding for more than 20 years; since 2014 we have sold it worldwide through our Etsy shop linencomfort, and more than 10,000 homes across the US and EU use it today.

What "made in Latvia" means on this site

Country-of-origin claims in bedding are often loose — a label sewn onto imported finished goods. Ours is specific: we buy linen woven in Europe from European flax, and every piece is cut from the roll and sewn to order in our own workshop near Riga. Nothing is subcontracted, nothing is relabelled.

To be equally clear about what we do not do: we do not weave the fabric ourselves. Weaving is a mill's job; ours is cutting and sewing, and we have done it in the same place for over 20 years.

The fabric

All products use the same 170 GSM medium-weight European linen in two colors: white, bleached to a clean white, and oatmeal, a mélange woven from bleached white warp and a gray weft. The fabric and the sewing thread are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — tested for substances that affect skin and lungs.

Linen is the strongest natural fiber, is stronger wet than dry, does not pill, and softens with every wash.

Made to order, cut oversized

We do not sew for stock. Each order is cut 3–5% oversized to absorb the natural shrinkage of linen, so it settles to its listed size after the first one or two cold washes. Wash before first use. US and EU sizes are standard; for custom dimensions, write to info@linenowl.com — sewing to order makes them straightforward.

What we make

Bedding: duvet covers, fitted sheets, flat sheets, sheet sets, pillowcases in five styles and bed skirts — the full range is under linen bedding. Table linen: napkins, singly or in sets of four and six.

Common questions

Is the fabric itself woven in Latvia?
No. The linen is woven in Europe from European flax; the cutting and sewing happen in our workshop near Riga. We state this plainly because "made in" should mean something.

Can I visit the workshop?
We are a production workshop, not a shop — there is no showroom. Orders are placed online; questions go to info@linenowl.com.

Do you ship from Latvia to the US?
Yes — we ship across the US and EU. Times and costs are in payment & delivery.
