Every size we make, in centimeters and inches, taken from the size selector on the products themselves. If a number here and a number in the selector ever disagree, the selector is right and we want to hear about it.
Three things that are true of every piece before you read a single table:
- Everything is cut 3–5% oversized and settles onto the size listed here after one or two cold washes — why we cut oversized rather than pre-shrinking.
- A pillowcase size is the pillow area. Ruffles and Oxford borders extend beyond it and are never included in the number.
- A duvet cover size is the cover, not the mattress and not the duvet. They are three different measurements and the same word is used for all three.
Duvet covers
Match the cover to the duvet you already own, not to the bed. A duvet sold as a UK king and a duvet sold as a US king are not the same object, which is why the tables below are kept separate rather than converted into each other.
UK and European duvet covers
| Size | Centimeters | Inches |
|---|---|---|
| UK/EU Single | 135 × 200 | 53 × 79 |
| IKEA Single | 150 × 200 | 59 × 79 |
| German | 155 × 220 | 61 × 86 |
| EU Double | 200 × 220 | 79 × 86 |
| UK Double/IKEA | 200 × 200 | 79 × 79 |
| UK King | 230 × 220 | 91 × 86 |
| EU King/IKEA | 240 × 220 | 94 × 86 |
| UK/EU Super King | 260 × 220 | 102 × 86 |
US duvet covers

| US Twin XL | 68 × 90 | 173 × 229 |
| US Full | 76 × 90 | 193 × 229 |
| US Full/Double | 80 × 80 | 203 × 203 |
| US Double/Queen | 86 × 86 | 219 × 219 |
| US Queen | 90 × 90 | 229 × 229 |
| US King | 104 × 90 | 264 × 229 |
| US California King | 108 × 96 | 274 × 244 |
Australian duvet covers
Sold in Australia and New Zealand as a quilt cover or a doona cover. Same item, and these are the sizes to order by. If the name rather than the number is what you are checking, the glossary of bedding terms has the rest of them.
| Size | Centimeters | Inches |
|---|---|---|
| AU Single | 140 × 210 | 55 × 83 |
| AU King Single | 160 × 210 | 63 × 83 |
| AU Double | 180 × 210 | 71 × 83 |
| AU Queen | 210 × 210 | 83 × 83 |
| AU King | 245 × 210 | 96 × 83 |
| AU Super King | 270 × 240 | 106 × 94 |
Anything outside these tables is a custom order: the selector on linen duvet covers takes a width and a length in centimeters or inches, and we cut to it.
"King" means seven different covers
Four markets, one word. This is the most common reason an order arrives in a size the buyer did not expect, and no conversion table can fix it, because these sizes are not conversions of each other — they are different products.
| Called | Centimeters | Inches |
|---|---|---|
| UK King | 230 × 220 | 91 × 86 |
| EU King/IKEA | 240 × 220 | 94 × 86 |
| UK/EU Super King | 260 × 220 | 102 × 86 |
| US King | 264 × 229 | 104 × 90 |
| US California King | 274 × 244 | 108 × 96 |
| AU King | 245 × 210 | 96 × 83 |
| AU Super King | 270 × 240 | 106 × 94 |
Every one of them is sold as a king somewhere. Ordering "king" without a number is how a US king duvet ends up inside a UK king cover.
A note on euro king, since it is asked more than any other: in most of Europe a king mattress is 160 × 200 cm, but the cover that goes on its duvet is the 240 × 220 cm listed above as EU King. The mattress name and the cover name do not match, and both are called king. Order by the numbers, not the name.
Fitted sheets
Pocket depth
The depth is the depth of the sheet pocket, not the depth of your mattress. Measure the mattress, then choose the pocket that clears it — including any topper, which is what catches most people out.
Pocket depths available: 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 inches, or 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 cm if you order in centimeters. The deepest, 22 inches, clears a pillow-top or a mattress with a thick topper on it. Sets on linen sheet sets carry a shorter list — 10, 14, 18, 22 inches.
Mattress sizes
US:
| Name | Inches | Centimeters (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| Twin | 39 × 75 | 99 × 191 |
| Twin XL | 39 × 80 | 99 × 203 |
| Full/Double | 54 × 75 | 137 × 191 |
| Full XL | 54 × 80 | 137 × 203 |
| Queen | 60 × 80 | 152 × 203 |
| California King | 72 × 84 | 183 × 213 |
| King | 76 × 80 | 193 × 203 |
| King | 78 × 80 | 198 × 203 |
King appears twice because mattresses sold as king are not all one width. Measure yours rather than trusting the label. Centimeter figures in this table are converted from the inches, which are what the selector orders by.
EU: 24 sizes, from 80 × 190 cm up to 200 × 220 cm — widths of 80, 90, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, 190 and 200 cm against lengths of 190, 200 and 220 cm, though not every pairing is one we make. The exact list is in the selector on linen fitted sheets; the 220 cm length is the one most charts leave out and the one long-frame beds need.
AU: Long Single 92 × 203 cm, Single 92 × 191 cm, King Single 107 × 203 cm, Queen 153 × 203 cm, King 183 × 203 cm, Super King 203 × 203 cm.
Flat sheets
Hemmed clean, no ruffle. Linen flat sheets are cut to US sizes only — in Europe the flat sheet is far less common than the duvet cover, so we make them where they are used.
| Size | Inches | Centimeters |
|---|---|---|
| Twin | 72 × 102 | 183 × 259 |
| Twin XL | 72 × 105 | 183 × 267 |
| Full/Double | 84 × 102 | 213 × 259 |
| Queen | 95 × 105 | 241 × 267 |
| King | 110 × 105 | 279 × 267 |
Sheet sets
Sets are cut to US sizes only — California King 72, Full/Double 54, King 76, King 78, Queen 60, Twin 39, Twin XL 39. Each set pairs a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and pillowcases, and the pillowcase style comes with it: housewife, Oxford or ruffled. Composition varies by size, so check the product page for the exact pieces in the size you want rather than assuming a count.
Pillowcases
The listed size is the pillow area. Anything decorative — a ruffle, an Oxford border — sits outside that number.

| 75 × 75 | 30 × 30 |

What extends beyond the listed size:
- Housewife — no border; the listed size is the whole case
- Oxford — a flat 5 cm / 2 in border on all four sides, outside the listed size
- Ruffle — one ruffle of about 6 in / 15 cm on the open side
- Frilled — a frill of about 3 in / 7.5 cm around all four sides
- Doubled ruffle — two ruffles on the open side, about 1 in / 2.5 cm and 6 in / 15 cm

Bed skirts
A flat deck panel sits on the box spring and the mattress holds it down — no ties, no elastic. Drops available: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 inches, or 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 cm. Measure from the top of the box spring to the floor, and order that number rather than guessing from the bed height.
Four corner-and-pleat styles: corners not split with side pleats, corners not split without pleats, split corners with side pleats, split corners without pleats. Which one your frame needs is in the linen bed skirt guide, and the range is on linen bed skirts.
Napkins
Hemmed clean. The small end suits lunch and everyday use; 20 in / 50 cm and up is a dinner napkin that will sit across a lap properly.

If your size is not listed
Email info@linenowl.com with the measurements and the color you want. We cut and sew every order in our own workshop near Riga, so a size that is not on a chart is a quote rather than a refusal. Custom pieces take longer to make and are not returnable — the standard 30 days applies to everything else, per the returns policy.
