The housewife case is the plain one: no border, nothing past the pillow, flush under the edge of a duvet cover and flat in the cupboard. It is also the shape with nothing between your cheek and the linen.

In oatmeal that plainness is the point. The color is a mélange of bleached white and gray yarn rather than a flat dye, so a case that is a week into its cycle still reads as fabric rather than as laundry. Care

Wash before first use — cold water, delicate cycle. The pillowcase is cut 3–5% oversized to absorb the natural shrinkage of linen; it settles to nominal size after 1–2 cold washes. Yes — natural fibers shrink. Expect 3–5%. This pillowcase is cut oversized to absorb that, so the final fit matches the size you ordered.

What shade is oatmeal — will it fade or vary?
Oatmeal is a mélange: bleached white warp threads woven with a gray weft, giving a soft heathered tone. Slight color variation between batches is normal for mélange linen. The color does not fade with normal care.
