A white linen pillowcase in oxford style, cut and sewn in our workshop near Riga. 170 GSM European linen.

Construction

Oxford construction — a flat 5 cm / 2 in flange on all four sides, envelope closure on the back. The listed pillow size is the inner sham; the flange extends beyond it.

The fabric

170 GSM European linen, medium weight. Soft against skin after the first wash and softer with every subsequent one. The flax is European; the cut and sew is Latvian.

Care

Wash before first use — cold water, delicate cycle. The pillowcase is cut 3–5% oversized to absorb the natural shrinkage of linen; it settles to nominal size after 1–2 cold washes. For ongoing care, machine wash at 40 °C (104 °F) on a delicate cycle. Tumble dry low. Oxygen bleach is safe for white linen; do not use chlorine bleach. Ironing is not necessary; linen carries a soft crease naturally.

Certification and origin

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified — the fabric and thread are tested for substances that affect skin and lungs. The linen is European; the cut and sew is Latvian. No subcontracting.

Common questions

Should I wash this before first use?
Yes. New linen should always be washed before first use — cold water, delicate cycle. The pillowcase ships oversized and settles to nominal size after 1–2 cold washes.

Does linen shrink?
Yes — natural fibers shrink. Expect 3–5%. This pillowcase is cut oversized to absorb that, so the final fit matches the size you ordered.

Does white linen yellow over time?
Not with normal care. White linen yellows when stored damp or when bleached with chlorine. Wash, dry fully, store dry. Oxygen bleach is safe for occasional brightening.
