White Linen Pillowcases

Linen pillowcases in five styles — sold elsewhere as pillow covers or pillow cases, the same item under a different name. White and oatmeal across all five; the ruffle and housewife styles also come in fourteen stonewashed colors.

White linen pillowcases from LinenOwl. Five construction styles, all in 100% linen at 170 GSM, European, cut and sewn in our workshop near Riga.

Styles available:

  • Housewife — clean rectangle, envelope closure, no border
  • Oxford — flat 5 cm / 2 in flange on all four sides (the listed size is the pillow itself; the flange extends beyond it)
  • Ruffle — single ruffle ~6 in / 15 cm on one open side (listed size does not include the ruffle)
  • Frilled — continuous frill ~3 in / 7.5 cm around all four sides
  • Doubled Ruffle — two ruffles on one open side, ~1 in / 2.5 cm and ~6 in / 15 cm (listed size does not include the ruffles)

Why white makes most sense on a pillowcase. Of everything on a bed, the pillowcase is the piece that meets skin and hair every night and is washed the most often because of it. White is the only color of ours that takes oxygen bleach, so it is the one piece of bedding you can bring back rather than retire — and a case bought to replace a worn one will match the rest, because bleached white does not vary by batch. If you are deciding between the two plain styles rather than between colors, housewife against Oxford is the comparison; the care guide has the bleach routine.

Sizes. Standard EU and US pillow sizes — see the size selector on each product. Sizes do not include ruffles or flange.

Care. Wash before first use — cold water, delicate cycle. Settles after 1–2 cold washes. Ongoing care at 40 °C. Cut 3–5% oversized. Oxygen bleach safe for white linen; no chlorine bleach.

Certification. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — fabric and thread tested for substances that affect skin and lungs.
