Who buys four
Four suits two people using napkins daily, or a small table laid without raiding a second set. Oatmeal is the practical half of that: a mélange of bleached white and gray yarn rather than a flat dye, so the marks a white napkin shows between washes simply do not read on it.
The trade is that oatmeal cannot be bleached — treat a stain promptly and wash cold rather than reaching for anything stronger. It also shifts with the light, warmer under a lamp than in daylight, which is why it sits easily against wood and stoneware. The napkin size guide covers the eight sizes.
The fabric
100% linen at 170 GSM, European, medium weight. Naturally absorbent, releases stains readily in the wash.
Care
Wash before first use — cold water, delicate cycle. The napkins are cut 3–5% oversized to absorb the natural shrinkage of linen; they settle to nominal size after 1–2 cold washes. Certification and origin
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified — the fabric and thread are tested for substances that affect skin and lungs. The flax is European; every piece is cut and sewn in our own workshop near Riga, Latvia — not subcontracted, not relabelled from elsewhere.
Common questions
Should I wash the napkins before first use?
Yes. New linen should always be washed before first use — cold water, delicate cycle. The napkins ship oversized and settle to nominal size after 1–2 cold washes.
Does linen shrink?
Yes — natural fibers shrink. Expect 3–5%. These napkins are cut oversized to absorb that, so the final size matches the one you ordered.
What shade is oatmeal — will it fade or vary?
Oatmeal is a mélange: bleached white warp threads woven with a gray weft, giving a soft heathered tone. Slight color variation between batches is normal for mélange linen. The color does not fade with normal care.
Can I mix sizes or colors in one set?
Each set contains four identical napkins — same size, same color. For a mixed set, contact us: every order is sewn to order, so custom combinations are usually no problem.
